About Us

The prayer breakfast was originally called the Christian Men's Breakfast in the early 90's and hosted by local business men. The breakfast was renamed the Olathe Mayor's Prayer Breakfast in 1998, and new members were added to the planning committee. The date for the breakfast was set and is held on the Friday before Thanksgiving annually. The early 6:30 a.m. start allows attendees to leave for work by 8:00 a.m. so as not to disrupt the work day.

Local business people have also been invited to shared their faith testimonials. These speakers have provided attendees words of  encouragement, have challenged them, inspired them and have often given them a  sense of renewal at a time of year when thoughts about faith, families, community and the future are heightened as the holiday season begins. .

2016 has been a year of revitalization for the Olathe Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Committee. They have a newly articulated Mission and Vision.  The committee was enlarged and a new venue for this year's breakfast was selected. The University is excited to host the breakfast at the COOK CENTER ON THE CAMPUS OF MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary as our 'home-town University'!

We are grateful to the American Legion for having provided the space and breakfast opportunity for the event for many years. We appreciate having had the opportunity to spend time with those who have served, or whose family members have served and protected our Nation.
